Looking for driver for Samsung SH-S223C DVD drive
Seems to be really hard to find. Anyone wanna take a crack? I've looked and looked, and I found two sites, but one of them requires registration at cost ($1.99 per month) and the other has not responded with an email to confirm my email (required for free registration). There's even an option to send me an email with a link to a download if all I wanted was just one file to download. I went for it, but no email. Went to Samsung site about it, but no reply. I got this OEM drive from Newegg, and I need help here...

This (and just about every other internal SATA/IDE DVD-RW and CD-RW drive) uses the same generic driver (see above) supplied by Windows. No manufacturer-specific driver is required or available.
Here is the SB01 firmware update, if you need it (9/30/09):

No specific problem; the drive is OEM and came without any software, documentation, or even hardware. Even came without the SATA cable. Just the drive. And no wonder: it cost me only $25.
Glad to know I can just use a generic driver. Thanks.

No problem. I've installed probably 20 or more internal IDE/SATA CD/DVD drives over the years, and none ever required manufacturer-specific drivers in Windows.
Yeah, OEM "bare" drives normally come with no cables or software. You may want to check and upgrade your firmware, though, as many times newer firmware makes the drive compatible with more brands/types of blank DVD media.

After getting new SATA cable, got the drive installed and running, there were no problems. Thanks again... and I'll upgrade the firmware, too.
