About MVPS-HOSTS file site

Hi,

I think that some things has to be changed at the MVPS-HOSTS file site.

Let's have a look at:

1.

It has been determined that a large list of sites in the Restricted Zone causes slow-down issues with IE 8. This generally occurs from several 3rd party programs including SpywareBlaster and Spybot S&D Immunization. At this time Microsoft advises to not populate the Restricted Zone with a large list of sites.

This has been discussed in several previous threads here and has been fixed by MS.

No, IE-SPYAD has not been discontinued.

Please Note: the original IE-SPYAD format that used .REG files to load and unload the Restricted Sites list is no longer available and will not be maintained. The same holds true for IE-SPYAD2. Both are replaced by what used to be called IE-SPYAD for ZonedOut. ZonedOut is a free utility that loads and unloads a plain text list of domains into the Restricted sites zone. You can think of ZonedOut as an improved replacement for the .BAT file utility used in the "original" IE-SPYAD. This new version of IE-SPYAD provides the same protection as the old version, but is easier to use and maintain.

Re: About MVPS-HOSTS file site

"winhelp2002" belongs to "mike burgess".. you could send him an email, regarding your concerns, if you wanted to, at:

"IESPYAD" belongs to "eric howes".. i think that he went to work for "sunbelt" ("counterspy") and, after that, he said that he was not going to be able to maintain the IESPYAD list, but, still, he has updated it, a few times, since then..

p.s. i happened to be looking at the winhelp2002 website, today, myself.. i appreciate all the work that mike burgess has done, there..

on the "winhelp2002" webpage that you posted a link to, regarding "restricted sites", notice that, on that webpage, there is a download for "deldomains.inf", where it says "To remove all the sites listed in the Restricted Zone".. that utility can come in handy when you have "websites" in your "zones" that, seemingly, cannot be removed..
