What happens if you have an eMTA for phone+HSI, but cancel phone service?

Do you need to switch to a separate cable modem for HSI before cancelling the phone service?

If you don't turn in the eMTA modem after canceling phone service you will get billed for lost/unreturned equipment. You will need to rent/purchase a traditional cable modem to continue using your HSI service.
