Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
Hi Guys
I could not get my Google Voice to call into my pbx or extension and I have used this guide: »geeklad.com/make-free-phone-call···asterisk
what else can I use to get it to work.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
I was under the impression that the outbound scheme described at geeklad no longer works; see »Connecting to Google Voice Via SIP . Yet, you mention only an incoming problem. Is that because outgoing calls work fine, or because you are troubleshooting incoming first?
If your problem is just incoming: What kind of softphone/ATA/IP phone are you using? Fail when registered directly to G5? Tried any other clients? Incoming work ok with other provider(s)? Can you call your G5 number e.g. via SIPBroker? If not, what does caller hear? What kind of router? Modem? Any special settings in either?

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
the problem is the incoming part.
this is how my setup is on my pbx box:
goes to asterisk ----> then extension from extension to my polycom soundpoint phone.
I even tried it with softphone xlite and I cant get it to ring into my softphone or my polycom soundpoint when everything was setup correctly.
I am thinking its the problem from gizmo to GV then to my IP address/asterisk.
I know my GV number works because I have it forwarding to my ipcomms phone number.
I also open all right ports on my smoothwall router and still no luck.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
If you try to register your Polycom or X-Lite directly to Gizmo5 (bypassing Asterisk and with Asterisk shut down), does it register OK? If so, Can you make outgoing calls OK, e.g. to US toll-free numbers? If so, can you receive calls, e.g. placed from your cell phone via SIPBroker gateway to your G5 number? If not, what does the caller hear?
Also, I'm curious why you don't just set your GV number to ring to your ipcomms number (G5 is not all that reliable).

Try this with any physicians when you got a cold flu without giving him/her additional information and see how many physicians will respond to your requests. ;)

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
It's unfortunate that Google Voice just does not allow you to route your calls directly via SIP anymore. Instead you must go through Gizmo (which is unreliable at best and it degrades the audio quality when it does work).

I have tried to run my GV go to gizmo but from gizmo it does not go to my asterisk box at all.

If you have GV->ipcomms->Asterisk->Polycom working fine, why do you care about Gizmo? As others have posted, G5 is less reliable and of inferior quality.
If for some reason you need G5, please answer the questions in my previous post.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
well see when I register gizmo on xlite it registers just fine but when you try to call my gizmo number on xlite it will ring really quick then it hangs up before I get a chance to pick it up. on the polycom phone I haven't tried to register my gizmo because I dont know what settings to put in there for gizmo.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
Run Wireshark on the X-Lite machine and see what is going wrong. If G5 is sending a CANCEL for no apparent reason, there is probably another device registered to your G5 account that is responding. Make sure your Asterisk is shut down for this test.
Also, make the test call via SIPBroker (or some other way that does not involve GV). Report what the caller hears.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
well I got the outgoing to work just fine but still having issues with the incoming.
I just used this setting for asterisk under trunk:
name the trunk Gizmo5
type=peer
insecure=very
host=proxy01.sipphone.com
username=1747XXXXXXX
fromuser=1747XXXXXXX
fromdomain=proxy01.sipphone.com
secret=password
context=from-gizmo5-trunk
qualify=yes
for the Outgoing Settings and noting in for the incoming settings.

In GV, disable Call Screening and set Call Presentation off.
Make sure that only your Gizmo line is checked on the Phones page. In Asterisk, try
asterisk -r
CLI> sip show registry
CLI> set verbose 10
Keep the command line open and make a test call from your cell phone to your GV number. Report what the caller hears and what shows in the command line window.

OK, do incoming calls to your Callcentric number work properly? What happens when you call your Gizmo5 number via SIPBroker?

Call a SIPBroker access number (preferably from your cell phone, landline, or other non-asterisk line). A list is here: »www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/acti···nNumbers . I just tested using 775-562-4697. When you hear the prompt, dial *7471747xxxxxxx# to call your Gizmo5 number. Or, you can confirm that SIPBroker is working properly by dialing *4621777xxxxxxx# to call your Callcentric number. Or, search for other providers here: »www.sipbroker.com/sipbroker/acti···itePages .

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
alright I tried that sipbroker from my house phone and I was able to get to my Callcentric number just fine but when I tried to call my gizmo5 number it doesnt even ring into my extension on my asterisk box so I am going to try to setup the gizmo number in my xlite to see what happens.

Re: Asterisk + Google Voice + Gizmo
I just tried to setup my gizmo into my xlite with my number and all correct information and called sipbroker and its not even ringing to my gizmo number.
edit I just got done re-doing some settings in there and I finally got to work but when I was looking at xlite the number came in @204.11.194.10:5070
other update for asterisk I was able to get gizmo to ring to my asterisk and extension by using this config:
type=peer
disallow=all
allow=ulaw
allow=ilbc
dtmfmode=rfc2833
host=proxy01.sipphone.com
fromdomain=proxy01.sipphone.com
insecure=very
qualify=yes

username=YOURSIP
