Flash drive window in Win XP

Is there a way to control the location of the USB flash drive window in Windows XP. Sometimes it opens up on the left side of the monitor, some times on the right side but never in the same location as the last time it was opened. Can that window be stabilized to open in the same place every time?

Thanks.

Try this -- with the USB drive window open, hold the Ctrl down and close it.

In theory, the next time you open it, the window should be the same size and position.

Thanks MSeng,

Your suggestions seems to work from the desktop but if I open the flash drive with a webpage open it is still all over the screen. Thanks for the try.

I was hoping for a registry tweak or a small piece of software that would keep that window opening in the same location.

I do not think it is normal Windows behavior, because i have Windows XP Pro and window always stays in the same position unless i move it.

Re: Flash drive window in Win XP

There was an old registry tweak to fix an issue whereby windows XP forgets windows positions and sizes. If I remember correctly when I had this problem it happened with many programs that seemed to open up anywhere they pleased, not just one.

Anyway, try this: »windowsxp.mvps.org/folderviews.htm

It seems XP can only remember 400 window settings, after that they just get lost I guess.

Also see »support.microsoft.com/default.as···rkaround The fix is about half way down the page under "let me fix it myself".

I did not just cut and paste the text since I was not sure if that was permitted here.
