My Network Lab, and Leviton Structured Media

I have been spending too much time in my garage of late building my lab. Here is what I have so far. The lab is on an isolated network off a WRT54GL that is running DD-WRT. It has VPN access so I can access it from outside, or from my home network without allowing the lab access into my home network. I am working on the ability to share access to my lab with friends for different projects. I am looking for an IP KVM, Switched PDU, and remote terminal server so I wont need to use the LCD, or even go into the garage to use the lab. I am also building a rack-mount case that will hold 6 PCs so I don't need to have so many darn cases laying around in the garage. Its a pretty big mess of cables right now, and I only have a few devices in use so Ill need to add some cable management soon.

My lab consists of:
1x Cisco 2621XM 128M/32F
3x Cisco 2514 16M/16F
2x Cisco 2501 16M/16F
1x Cisco 2950
1x Adtran Atlas 550
3x Adtran NetVanta 1224R
1x Asante FriendlyNet24
1x Dell PowerConnect 2016
4x Dell PowerEdge 1550
1x Generic 4U Server for my DVR
6x Generic PIII clients.

Looks nice, but how does the wireless work inside that metal box? I'm assuming it's metal, if not, nevermind. ;)

Its metal, but that does not seem to effect the wireless signal much actually. I thought about getting an antenna extender and have them mounted in the attic, but it seems to work fine so I never bothered.

you can get some leviton brackets to hold that cable modem, wireless router and that voip adapter onto the panel...

Re: My Network Lab, and Leviton Structured Media

Thanks,

Actually the router, and gigabit switch are sitting on shelves already. When I got the gigabit switch I took the shelf I had the cable modem on for it. The cable modem is pretty light so I left ok letting it hang until I get another shelf, or something to put it on. The only thing I used zip ties for are to hold DC power cables, and power block out of the way.

Nice setup, I like the Adtran products a lot. The only thing I see is that you might want to mount the cable modem in the panel. I'm not a fan of those structured media enclosures but you have done a nice job with yours.

What model cable modem is that? I used to have it with Time Warner and never knew.

I think it's an Ambit.

It is. A slightly older one. The new Ambits that they're handing out now aren't much bigger than a deck of cards.

Haha, is that part of an APC UPS rackmount kit that you have modified to use as a mounting bracket for the LCD? Nice improvisation skills!
