Westell 6100F internet problems
I followed this guide: (»Verizon Online DSL FAQ »How do I use a router with the Westell 6100? bridge my Westell 6100F modem, to some success. The modem bridges, and when I connect it to my router, the router doesn't seem to connect to the internet...
I disabled DHCP on my modem, gave my router the Username + password for pppoe, what else do I have to do?
The reason for me doing this is because I am totally unable to open any of the ports I need for games/programs.
Any help appreciated.

Re: Westell 6100F internet problems
Here is what might be happening:
Your modem MAC address is registered at the verizon DHCP server, and an IP address will only be assigned to that MAC address.
If that is the problem, then cloning the modem MAC address in your router might work. But that assumes you can find the needed MAC address. Alternatively, you can call Verizon and see if they will reset it (I have no knowledge of whether they will). Or you can wait for it to time out (I don't know how many hours, or days, that would take).
There's another thing you could try. Put the 6100 back so that it is working as before. Then go into the modem home page, and click on "disconnect". As soon as it has disconnected, unplug the phone connection and then switch to bridge mode. The hope is that the modem will tell the DHCP server to release the IP address, and if you are lucky that might make it available to a different MAC address.
