AT&T SE matching other AT&T regions?
(Edited because the original title was a bit sarcastic.)
I want to know:
Does anyone have any clue when the Southeast region will see the same pricing and upstream rates as the other AT&T areas?
I am just curious. I'd love to have the same speed (actually a bit higher on the upload side) for less money! Right now I pay $26 plus tax for Complete Choice Enhanced, $4 for unlimited long distance, and $32.95 for 3.0 and $14.95 for static IP, in addition to ~$90.00 for DirecTV (locked into contracts :() and ~$380 for AT&T wireless (locked into contracts :( and we actually take advantage of our wireless plan so lowering it isn't an option...I'm talking about 14,000 M2M+N/W minutes a month used and roughly 3,000 anytime used...). It's all a bit much, so I'm about to drop the static IP.
I realize my line can't do any better on the download side (which is not what I really want more of) but I can definitely handle more upstream!
I'd also love to have a 3008x512 sync rate like the other AT&T areas seem to get...it would be better for me than what I have now!
;)

I don't have any official information regarding this, but my guess is that eventually AT&T will migrate the legacy BellSouth prices and speeds to the legacy SBC areas, not the other way around. From the corporate point of view, do you want to give customers more for less, or do you want to give customers less for more? It is just a matter of AT&T running a PR campaign to educate the legacy SBC customers on the benefits of receiving less and paying more.

There were a lot of talks about that when the news of AT&T and BellSouth horizontal merge broke here. We all hoped that we would pay less and be upgraded to 768kbps after the merge for few months to follow. Now that didn't happen now did it? Where we are now? same place so WTF was the point of the merge? I have no idea I haven't seen anything other than customer service and qautlity of service go down when Death Star took over. Hell I was more happy being with BellSouth then again BS=BullShit thats what they were.

Probably so; but they'll lose revenue when they do. I'll either knock back my speed to keep my price near where it is, or jump ship. I doubt I'll be the only one.

AT&T doesn't seem to be concerned about losing revenue or customers. Their recent decision to drop their CallVantage VoIP service because it cost less than their newer U-verse VoIP service proves that.
They lost me as a two line CallVantage customer because even had I been inclined to pay AT&T a higher price for the same service with the U-verse label, I could not do so since U-verse is not available at my location.
I did port one of the numbers to an AT&T cell phone account because it was an established business number and I did not want to lose it. AT&T lost money on this because instead of paying them $50.00 per month for two VoIP lines, I now only pay $10.00 per month for one additional cell phone line.
