[Services] ? about switching to a dedicated adsl line

We have had intermittent loss of signal for the past year both from DirectTV and Fast Access, strangely enough only during medium to heavy cloud cover or storms. A month ago Direct TV told us they found the problem for both in our local Savannah GA Central Office and they had pre-emptively fixed it before calling us and that our service should already have been back to perfect status. It was... for three days. Before that and after the recurrence of the problem, we are back to the standard internal run around of calling people in circles. With DirectTV being a satellite television service working with at&t and being bundled with it and with the fact that our service only goes out during heavy cloudy days and nights; we believe that we've been switched to satellite dsl somewhere between atlanta or augusta and savannah (the outside techs that we know tell us that the savannah area hasn't gone to satellite yet but they can't confirm about what might have happened outside of the area); the thought came up in conversation: what about a dedicated adsl line. It won't fix the loss of the Price is Right but at least part of the problem might be solved. Could anyone give some reviews of their dedicated adsl line experiences and possibly, if it is actually an option, how could one go about getting a dedicated line?

I read your post five times trying to make some sense out of it. My brain turned to mush and my skull imploded. I'm dead now.

You probably should back up a bit, and consider a better description of your problem. If you don't have a satellite receiver with both a DVR and an Ethernet port, you aren't going to have a problem with TV due to DSL line issues.

So tell us about your equipment.

There is no such thing as satellite dsl. If you have dsl it is not going over any satellite at any point.

May I have a brownie?

Somewhere along the line you got confused, OP.
It seems like you have a bundle from AT&T which gives you DirecTV television service and FastAccess DSL Internet service.
Your DirecTV service does indeed come from a satellite--and this is why you may have service interruptions when the weather is bad.
(We have had DirecTV since the late 90s, however, and have never had weather issues unless a hurricane or something major was happening.)
Your FastAccess DSL service comes over a phone line--the same phone line your home phone comes from--and is usually not affected by bad weather. If there is a problem with the telephone line where bad weather is affecting it, that wouldn't affect your DirecTV service at all.

Why is DirecTV messing with your DSL service anyway? Anything that can be fixed on the DSL side has ZERO effect on your DirecTV service.

If you were referring to the loss of DirecTV OnDemand service then yes, it can be affected by DSL, but the only thing that could affect it is the loss of Internet connection. It doesn't know you're using DSL, it just knows you have Internet.

Please revise your post.
