Some things do get better
While we all post our problems and rants here regarding AT&T service, I thought it was only fair to post about a major improvement.
On May 29, I saw a crew working for a good while at my DSLAM up the road.. and my disconnect rate which had been horrible has essentially gone away. s/n and other stats have always been good thorough this..
I've had only 1 disconnect since May 29.. While probably a bit early to declare victory, hope it keeps up! :) :) :)

Re: Some things do get better
I thought that your modem always had good stats and never lost sync with the DSLAM.
Unless I misunderstood your past posts, I thought your problems were caused by PADTs from AT&T terminating your PPPoE session.
I'm confused as to how AT&T techs working at the DSLAM can fix the problems relating to the termination of your PPPoE session due to PADTs when the equipment that handles PPP sessions is located further upstream in the network from the DSLAM.
Do you reckon that maybe your line was having some very fast intermittent problems that you were unable to see and your modem was unable to log that caused AT&T's equipment to send those PADTs? I'm under the impression that PPPoE sessions can be fragile and I might have the wrong impression about this.
Maybe it was just a coincidence that you saw those AT&T techs working at the DSLAM then your DSL service much improved. Maybe at the same time as those techs were working at the DSLAM there were some other AT&T techs working on the equipment that handles the PPP sessions finding a problem then repairing it causing it to no longer send your modem those PADTs.
.
Irregardless of whatever was the root cause of your problems I'm glad for you that your FastAccess DSL service is working as it should now.
It your service continues to work as it should then please don't forget to update your review. »Review of AT&T Southeast by dandeman

Re: Some things do get better
I agree no way to know what all was done on the back end or hardware or software wise, but based on results something other than the usually declared and jumped to user modem, local loop as the root cause ,has changed for the better.
Per PPOE network architecture PADTs at the physical layer can come from any higher layer needing to disconnect for whatever reason. Otherwise a session drop w/o the proper disconnect results in hung sessions, which could require manual intervention to clear.

No. the two times I passed by that day, I was on a tight schedule.. and didn't have time to stop.. I've seen them out there many times before in the past and nothing changed, so didn't really expect anything different this time.

You are most likely going to be eligible for U- verse soon.
