Pirate Bay shutdown could be inspiring online militancy

I guess when governments and Media whores try and step into the the backyard of the techies and take a crap on the lawn. Those techies will only stand idle for so long before getting out the shotgun.

Some obvious questions

Re: "Industry Self-Regulation Of Online Privacy Has Failed":

Well, yes, of course data-miners will never show any respect for privacy unless forced to. But wait, "Center for Digital Democracy" and "U.S. PIRG" ("Public Interest Research Group") recommend "a legislative ban on collecting from or targeting information to anyone under 18, a do-not-track list similar to the do-not-call list for telemarketers...".

So, how do you tell who is what age online, or who has or has not signed up for the list? With cookies? Identifying people by IP address? Wouldn't these rules themselves require even worse privacy invasions in order to be implemented?

Re: "E.U. Leaders Bolster Internet Access Protections"

So there has to be a fair hearing before someone is kicked off the internet. So far so good. But wait, what if little Johnny on the parents' connection, or Roommate 1 on the shared flat's connection is banned for copyright infringement. Now what happens to the parents or Roommate 2?

Pirate Bay is not shutdown

What a strange headline to have on an article, when in fact it has not been shutdown.

RE:Google Dashboard Lists Account Info to Calm Privacy Criti

I checked this out and it is an easier way to manage your privacy settings for the most used Google Apps all in one place. »googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/···now.html

They also have placed links on some of these apps account info to the Dashboard.

It helped me tighten up privacy settings on some rarely used Google Apps and delete some old data & docs laying around in Google databases.
