I don't normally say that but this week has been a busy one.
I am on a home improvement "roll" and can't wait to get back to it this weekend.
Also, my wife got a clean bill of health after a series of ultrasounds and CAT scans to rule out some nasty possibilities. For that, I am truly thankful. :) :)

Re: Obama Nobel Peace Prize Winner - HA! HA!
Nobel is a proper name, doncha know.
It is named after the boy who made his fortune in dynamite.
The prize is awarded by Norwegians who must be famous for something, but I do not know what.
Awards are jokes doncha know, Chariots of Fire and Chicago received Academy Awards for Best Picture, who is watching those stupid DVD's on a regular basis.
Nobel does not mean N-O-B-L-E, it has been decades since we have had a NOBLE president, The Promise Breaking Liar President George Bush's dolt of son with the same name was not NOBLE and neither was the peanut brained Jimmah Carter or the great pretender, Albert Gore who also received the Nobel Prize.
President Barry ain't any more noble than that crowd, but he simply be the BLANKEST PAGE to occupy Bwilly CLinton's Oral Office since Calvin Coolige and everybody in the world seems to be rushing to fill in the all the blanks if that be possible.

Triple Play year is up
Well, my second year of Comcast Triple play is up in November. I am unable to get another year signed up at the local office. SO I will be needing to contact retentions again to see if I can continue the deal. :(
I have the package just the way I want it with a single HD box with digital preferred, CDV and the Standard internet 6dn/1up.
Anybody have recently gone through this and have any tips for recent deals?
Putting off the call for another couple of days.....

Mine is up the 15th. The local office said to call in around this time and they'll just renew it for another year (although the promo I have isn't offered anymore). I called and they said no so now I'm trying to get someone (anyone!) from ComcastCares on Twitter to respond but they haven't.
Too bad for Comcast really, I'd even go to the Premier package but they won't do anything. Guess I'll be calling CenturyLink and seeing that they have to offer... They've been sending tons of flyers recently.

If Barry win a Nobel Peace Prize, it neither be GOOD OR BAD.
It simply be MEANINGLESS which coincides with this nation becoming as IMPOTENT in the world as it the DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS who hold OFFICE in that NATIONAL CESSPOOL know as Washington, D C.

Me neither, if there be a racist in either in either party, he be in the White House.
Barry threw his old white grandmama under the bus by calling her a typical white person, he did so in defense of a Marxist who disguised his politics in the theology of Black Liberation Theology.
I am white, if I EVER USED THE TERM TYPICAL BLACK PERSON, I expect the POLITICALLY CORRECT POLICE, which you may be a member to come down on me like a TON of BRICKS not only calling me a RACIST, but attempting to prosecute me in VIOLATION of the First Amendment which seems to only apply to lefty pinkos of color and a certain sexual preference.

Obama the Muslum, ruining America from inside out!!
HAW HAW, got your attention.
I just wanted everyone to enjoy the picture of my newest friends, "Buzz" and "Gordo".
Gordo has the white ear, while Buzz is the traditional "Tuxedo" with the item in his mouth. Had them since August. My best friend died in July, and I decided to get litter mates.
At first it was a bit rocky. A few bathroom "accidents", but with the exception of a busted screen, and a destroyed Polk speaker it's been smooth sailing since. When I open my bedroom door in the morning, it's a full frontal kitten assault. I'm a amazed at how much they have taken to me. I miss my old friend, but bringing new friends into my home was so the right thing to do.
Their mother was hit by a car when they were but a few weeks old, and they had to be hand weened by a foster family at Forgotten Cats in Northern DE/SE PA. They're great kittens, and I have no doubt they will be awesome cats when they reach adulthood. The few weeks the house was empty was so painful. I still mourn the loss of my friend of 15 years back in July. Post here.
»Goodby little buddy, good riddance bad week
But, these little guys might not have found a home that loves them so much if not for the passing of my friend. Wow, I can really say I loved that cat like family. He was so special. But I have young ones to look after. Looking back on things a few short months ago, I wouldn't be enjoying watching these guys grow up in front of me had my old friend not left my life.
So much to ponder. The bottom line is, these little guys are a barrel of laughs. I love them ;)....
They rock....

Reagan inherited the mess Carter created and brought the country greater prosperity and respect than it had for a very long time. He accomplished more than Obama will ever accomplish and would never accept accolades that weren't merited. On the other hand, the mess that Obama has on his hands was created by Clinton, and the democrats not Bush.
You seem to leave out that Congress makes the laws and we have had a democrat congress for about 4 years now without fullfilling any the promises that got them elected, just like Obama. According to your logic, the democrats are the ones responsible for the depressions we're in right now.

That's not true. Democrats didn't control Congress until the 110th Congress, Jan. 2007. The first time that happened since the 103rd Congress ending Jan. 1995.
EDIT: The Republican party controlled both chambers of Congress for more than 10 of those 12 years. Between Jan. 2001 to Jan. 2003 Dems gained control of the Senate for a portion of those 2 years. Except for that brief period, Rs controlled both chambers for 12 years ending Jan. 2007.

Employment is always a lagging indicator. We had good employment back in Nov./Dec. 2008 even though we were in the midst of a recession. The economy has improved significantly today, but employment is worsening.
The recession you refer to was from July 1981 to November 1982.
As you see from your figures, unemployment continued to rise even though the recession had officially ended.
It always works that way.

I saw Pat Buchanan on the McGlaughlin group. He basically said this was an anti-award directed at former President Bush.
Just goes to show how bad President Bush was. You can say the Nobel committee diminished the value and legitimacy of the award. That may be true. But, once again, it goes to show how bad President Bush was that the committee would undermine itself just to jab Bush.
I agree with "Elkabong" that Obama would demonstrate class by declining the award. It would show that he's above being part of a back-handed swipe like that. And, show that even though President Bush rode the short bus, he was still President and deserves more respect from a future President.

Of course it wasn't any of the above. All the dialog from the Nobel-erites seems to indicate that it was awarded for what The Committee hopes O'Bama would accomplish.
In other words, the Norwegians desire to impress their influence upon future world events (as does the media).
In response, Presient O'Bama wasted - not a second - in accepting the award as a 'Call to Arms' to do exactly that. He has taken their cause as his own (until he doesn't; depending on the desires of other powers).
The lesson?

I think that's a good point. How will this award influence the President's future policy decisions? Will he put more effort into the proposals/promises which the award was based upon just so his award isn't tarnished? So it won't be "asterisked" (like that baseball player's record-breaking home run), footnoted with an explanation which diminishes the achievement?

You missed the context of what truth said. That's what you get for getting your news from only liberal sources.
There are teachers in the US spending their class time having their students sing political indoctrination songs about Obama. One song is set to the music of The Battle Hymn of the Republic and another one is a chant that has the exact phrase that truth put in his post. It's chanted over and over again.
It's pretty scary when our educational system is having students chant and sing slogans about politicians as part of their schooling. That has no place in our schools. Period.
I went back to school after ~30 years in 2001 and was shocked at the political indoctrination that was going on in our public school system. I took a political science class and the teacher did nothing but teach that the US is, and always has been, evil. She would twist facts of history out of time, place, and context, time and time again, and other times just flat out lie. As I'm a US, WWI, and WWII history buff, and knew she was lying I'd argue her "talking" points with her and often proved her wrong. She flunked me out of her class even though my daily work and grasp of the historical facts were of higher quality than those sitting around me, and they were getting high scores.
As far as I'm concerned what that woman was doing in that class was treasonous.

Congratulations Obama! You will have to explain that one. The only cheering I see is coming from Socialists and Marxists, the natural enemies of the US.
Before the Iraq war every intelligence service in the world believed the same thing the US did. They all believed good old Saddam had WMDs. Those countries who ended up criticizing the war were those who didn't like losing the money they were making selling banned weapons and technology to Saddam. Their objections were based on their financial losses, even though they tried hard to obscure that fact.

Your logic is faulty. You don't know (with certainty) who's "determined to have war" until they declare war (or attack). It ignores the fact that a heavy-handed approach can cause nations who may be defensive (or antagonistic) to escalate. Therefore, a diplomatic approach could have averted escalation to war. But, there's no way to prove that using your logic.
Being nice doesn't always work. Look at N. Korea. They've been gaming the West for over a decade. We either provide aid, or they pursue their nuclear ambitions. Even after providing aid in return for dismantling their facilities, they're now rebuilding their facilities (to negotiate for more aid).

From what I've read, the Honduran Supreme Court ordered the President's detention, not exile.
There was definitely a Constitutional crisis. It sounds like it became a coup when the military exceeded its authority by deporting him, replacing him with the former president, etc., instead of holding him for trial and allowing the natural line of succession.
It's always interesting to hear Conservatives claim they uniquely revere Constitutional rule, and then justify violating it just because it would have protected someone they disagree with.

I don't see that at classes I've taken at my local community and state college. What I usually see is people who've grown accustomed to "group think" who have difficulty considering alternative views.
An example is the prevalent notion that the founders opposed "big government" when the reality is that they ditched relatively libertarian "small government" (articles of confederation) after just 12 years, in favor of a relatively gargantuan government (1789 federal, constitutional government). The founding generation embraced big government like no other generation since (except, perhaps the Civil War generation who embraced coercing states into the union).
What I see is that some person's view of history is controlled by their political ideology. If they have a strong, biased political ideology they're less capable of viewing history from an unbiased viewpoint. All of history has to lead toward their current (political) worldview. Their political ideology explains history, not the other way around.

Although I have not read Honduras' constitution, I would be fairly certain it has a provision for impeaching a sitting president. If it does, I fail to see why such a mechanism couldn't have been used in this case. Congress was opposed to him, which means he likely would have been impeached and removed in very short order.
And, as I recall, the president was trying to hold a referendum on whether the constitution should be changed to allow him to seek another term. The Supreme Court said he could not legally hold a binding referendum in the manner he was choosing to do. His response was that it would then be a non-binding vote to gauge public opinion. I'm not going to get into whether this violated Honduran law, but it sure doesn't look like some imminent threat that could justify a coup. It looks more to me like the military wanted him gone, and this was the pretext they needed.

I might be among that segment. :) I feel the constitution exists to serve us, not us to serve it. In that sense, I believe it's a living, breathing document, with expanding and contracting rights based upon circumstances. (Lincoln suspending Habeas Corpus even though that power is reserved exclusively to the Legislative branch; Roosevelt violating the Neutrality Act; The disconnect between the Executive's inherent power of surveillance and the Legislative's power to create a framework within which surveillance should be conducted under normal circumstances.).
I just take exception to the huff-and-puff crowd who insist they revere the Constitution (unlike liberals), and then proceed to justify all the instances where Constitutions are trampled.
In the case of Honduras, the problem is that neither side is better than the other.
- The Right Wing coup has enacted indefinite curfews, suspended civil rights. Reenacted death squads (to reinstall terror among the population). Shut down opposition media.
They've claimed Zeyala wanted to amend the Constitution to increase term limits (to benefit himself), when it was a non-binding "poll" to gauge public opinion for a Constitutional Convention which would have been held after the Presidential election (Zeyala couldn't have immediately benefited from any term limits coming from such a con-con.).
His successor was a part of a group openly pushing for extending term limits in 1985 to directly benefit the President which he was affiliated with. That effort ended when the military got involved.
They exiled Zeyala when the Constitution prohibits that.
The Supreme Court is corrupt, appointed by the two political parties to 7-year terms. This creates an environment of political favors and loyalties (just like we had when US Senators were appointed by State legislatures back in the 1910s, before a Constitutional amendment made then subject to popular vote.).
The legislature voted to impeach/remove Zeyala only after the SC issued a sealed/secret order for Zeyala's arrest, and after a document appeared professing to be Zeyala's resignation (but uncontestable from exile). Clearly the legislature had the power to impeach and this would have been the logical method to remove Zeyala (instead of using the Judiciary to cause an arrest; then forced exile, which the coup leaders say they don't know who ordered; then impeachment after a so-called resignation letter; an impeachment by a show of hands instead of recorded vote.)
Right now, the coup leaders know they can't sustain the massive international backlash which exists. In order to return control to Zeyala they're considering a proposal which would make his successor a legislator for life. (Just a form of payola.).
- Zeyala wasn't much better.
This is like the Allende/Pinochet affair. The coup leaders broke the law. But, Allende brought it on by going too far too fast.
Latin American politics is like this. There's no respect for opposition groups. Whoever wins believes they won the lottery and can govern to the maximum of their agenda, not to accommodate both sides. It's like the wealthy families who control most Latin American countries, and own 99% of the wealth. They don't feel any reason to create an environment of competition and more equitable living standards. "I got mine. Screw everyone else."
Zeyala was right to support moving toward greater social equity. But, like most movements in Latin America, he disregarded the political reality and went too far, too fast.

Rofl, all of you lefties try to defend obama with going back and blaming former presidents. But none of you can actually defend an empty suit of a liar like obama. All the democrats you have voted in the past 4 years have not kept ANY of the ideals you voted them in for:
1. No closing of Guantamo
2. No bringing the troops home
3. No ending the war in Iraq
4. No ending the war in Afghanistan
5. No global warming farce agreements with other countries
6. No transpareniy in the White House (in fact, the secrecy is worst than when Bush was in)
The list is almost endless.
I'm pretty sure I've stated being disappointed about this and more. You should also throw in health care in your list.

*Hardcore conservative posts this video*
*still complains about Obama turning the country communist*
*complains about liberal NBC*
Again, only jokes about Bush are funny while the same jokes about obama aren't. Really shows your one sidedness even though you still try to act as if you're some sort of neutral voice. The clip is funny as hell and telling as even the liberals in the media are catching on to this farce called a president. What a sad mistake and embarrassment for those who had the kool-aid brains to vote for him. I'm still laughing at all of you.
Well I'm surprised Elcabong completely misunderstood something I said. Here let me break it down for you so you can tell me why I'm wrong on it:
A hardcore conservative who always rants about NBC and liberal media posts the video. The video airs on NBC, so this mighty 'liberal' media is attacking Obama and not trying to defend him? Yet you guys will still constantly bash NBC as being some super liberal company who says "the one" can do no wrong or whatever you want to call him.
In that video it also says how Obama has really done nothing for the majority of his campaign promises, that people constantly said were going to lead towards communism. Yet you guys constantly still say the country is communist or socialist. Do you get what I'm saying, you can't say hes turning the country communist, if he hasn't done anything yet.

Typical first time response to an avatar i put on to piss off liberals and the moronic comments i get from people. Another one falls for it lol!
Your icon and posts fit together perfectly. We always know whatever you say it's going to be against the democrats and for the republicans. Exactly like fox news.

Nothing is surprising any more!
I have gotten over saying comments like " I can't believe that" I now say every morning of my life what will happen today. I mean does anything surprise us any more. Right is wrong and wrong is right, that's the way most items go down now. Everyone has always had an opinion about everything but the difference now is no one budges on their opinion even if they know they could be wrong. Well why should they when it doesn't make a difference. Nothing ever gets accomplished from an individual scale to a federal government scale because no one budges on an idea or opinion, all they do is argue and everyone around them loses. I mean no one every gains anything from everyone arguing.
What the Bush's did in the White House is over, we can not live in the past so why blame everything on Bush and the past. If it would change things now then it would be a good thing but it won't it just breeds more anger.
I don't look at government in the view of democrat or republican, white man or black man. I look at it from a right or wrong point of view. What the elected officials do, should be based on morals of right and wrong. Most of us were taught from birth to adults, right and wrong by our parents but as adults we tend to forget our teachings. For the people holding office, treat your job as a business not a club and base your decisions on the morals of right and wrong.
The United States is at a crossroads on many things, the moves that are made in the next 8 years will make us or break us. I don't care who gets the Nobel Peace Prize but I do care about how many troops get killed in foreign countries, I do care if Iran gets Nuclear weapons, I do care if our government goes broke borrowing money from China, I do care about terrorist activities in America. They could have given the Nobel Peace Prize to Ned the wine-o and it would not have bothered me in the least bit but when I hear about another one of our troops getting killed I get mad.

Holy Mother of Bo'B; where to begin?
I've just completed reading a BBC article on Global Cooling Global Warming Global Climate Change that not only acknowledged the existence of a countering point of view, it allowed uncensored quotes from the people who held them.
Yea, I thought the same thing. But it's no spoof.
Plainly put: I was amazed beyond all recollection.
I quickly ran outside,

Anyway, it was an interesting bit of cosmic introspection.
Mentioned, was that there are non-man-made factors that could conceivably affect the temperature of the Earth.
YES it's blasphemy; even Dangerous Rhetoric of the Highest Order.
But it was also compelling. Reading it made me feel a little dangerous; like some kind of rebel.

Woah. You heard that right. The SUN is really that full of awesome power.
But then again, that's just a theory and Hummers are evil - EVIL.

Fortunately for you, reporting on the War Dead is maintaining the unusually low levels that began around the election.
I was listening to an interview with Code Pink founder Medea Benjamin. She was lamenting how media coverage of their protests abruptly stopped following the elections.
For the first time, the group is having difficulty getting interviewed. It appears she no longer has the press outlet where Code Pink might express any concerns of the President's handling of the war.
This article has been making the rounds as well.
It seems the press is disconnecting from the only detail of our soldiers service that ever really held their attention.
My personal observation
is that most people I know
that had been consistently angry
about the war since it's start,
don't express anger about it anymore.
Regardless of any of this, I hope you find peace.

I suspect it has more to do with the sharp decline in US casualties in Iraq (scroll to bottom to see red graph).
Casualties in Afghanistan are sharply higher. But, throughout the anti-Bush, anti-war movement it seemed like the public was opposed to the Iraq war, angry that we weren't focusing on Afghanistan. I got the impression the public wasn't angry over war casualties, but casualties due to a "mistake war." I.e., the frequently heard "how do you ask someone to be the last person to die for a mistake?"
The difference in sentiment about the two wars probably has something to do with the reduction in publicity. Anti-war groups probably don't want to admit that. They used sentiment against the Iraq war for a larger anti-war goal that I don't believe the public supported.

Think about it this way. We have ice on this planet, what happens when the surrounding water warms around it? They break apart and float into areas that don't normally have them. The fresh water won't mix with the salt water and parts of the oceans stagnate, which should grow even colder.
So in theory we should all be experiencing longer, colder winters for a period of time before everything really takes a turn for the worse.
Seeing as how it's already cold as fuck now I'll bet you this winter will be nasty.

Actually, you're kinda helping make the point. Global climate change has always been about the power of the sun. "The Greenhouse effect" they call it.
So, uh, yes, of course it is the sun providing the heat. We're just putting the planet inside the glasshouse!
