Something is off the tip of my toung,
ya know that song that starts out "I want my antie" or something like that, it repeats that a couple times, and then has a awesome guitar solo? I totally forgot the name of that song! It's been bugging me all day at work!

Thanks in advance, have a good weekend

Win 7 upgrade

Upgrading to Win 7 this weekend?

Download the VMware Converter Standalone Cient, and download the VMWare Player as well. Create a VM of your pre upgrade PC with the Sandalone Converter. You can run this VM you create with the Standalone Converter using the VMWare Player.

Better yet take an image of it with Acronis. It's free if you have an internal Seagate drive (You should have bought a Seagate, huh?). You can run the .TIB image with VMWare player or convert the .TIB image file with the Standalone Converter into a WMWare VM.

Now you can have your old PC and new one too. Maybe there is a better way to do this?

It is a bummer, but the grill keeps going regardless of outside temperature. Yes, we have to eat inside, but here is my rationale...

October is over.

We have to get through November, but by the time it's Thanksgiving, it'll be Christmas before you know it, and then New Year a week later. That takes care of November and December.

January is a bitch--have to get through that one on your own.

February is a shorter month, and MN can be sneaky and she can stick a 70 degree day in on you at the end of the month. After January, February will be over quickly.

March can go either way, but 3/21 is Spring, and before long, it'll be outside time again.

That's how I see it because I hate the cold. :)

True but it is so much nicer to eat outside communing with nature.
I think this is the last year for my present Grill (purchased in 2003 at H Depot). I'll keep this one going but it will need a new burner unit next season and the bar that holds the tank is corroded. While I am very handy for repairs etc. it is not worth it for what you can now buy a new Stainless Grill.

Something to look forward to for the new season.

There ya go. A new grill is always nice.

If I may ask, I bought a new Weber propane grill in March - my first propane grill. It's always covered when not in use, and I think only twice rain hit it directly. I think I paid about $650 for it.

All things remaining equal, how long can I expect it to last? I've had other Weber grills before, but they were the $125 charcoal grills which I never really took care of.

Re: BBQ Season Over

If you take care (cover it etc) the exterior will last a good 10 years (especially stainless). It is the heat that ultimately melts the burner units which are modular and easily replaceable. The more you use it, the sooner the burner needs replacement.
The cheaper the grill, the quicker the burners "melt".
My grill in 2003 was/is a Charbroil (Weber was not that big in gas grills then) and is not stainless and it looks like I'll have gotten 7 years out of it.
Weber which is a much better unit should last longer.
I paid $169 for mine but because the guy made an error in which unit he quoted me, they gave us a $300.00 unit for the $169 price.
Those same $300 units now sell for $189 or so. Prices have come down.

I know the Weber you bought and that one is a good one which should deliver you delicious hot meals at least through 2011. :p

The Warning (Derivative risk ignored in '96).

PBS Frontline is running a good piece this week about the former chairperson (Brooksley Born) of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) who tried to regulate derivatives (like Credit Default Swaps) and was literally squashed by former Fed Chairman Greenspan, Treasury Secretary Rubin, and Rubin's Chief of Staff Summers.

It can be watched online here: »www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/warning/

This is really an important part of the recent financial meltdown. She warned of the opaque nature of the derivatives market a year or two before Long-Term Capital Management (LTCM) failed in 1998 due largely to its use of derivatives. At the time of that crisis, LTCM held $129 bil in assets and $1025 bil ($1.25 trillion) in derivatives.

After LTCM's crash:

• Brooksley was forced out of the CFTC.

• Rubin went on to head Citigroup (which is still receiving bailout money).

• Summers is now a policy adviser to President Obama.

• Greenspan, who held such extreme (pure libertarian) "free market" beliefs that he even argued for deregulating margin/leverage requirements just a week before the LTCM crisis, appeared before Congress and admitted that the worldview which had guided many years of his life was wrong.[1]

This helps demonstrate how there were many components to the crisis.

1. Nobody wanted to take away the punch bowl in the middle of the party.

2. Greenspan made "free money" available to bankers for too long. By 2003, Fed rates (after adjusting for inflation) were below zero.

3. Wall Street (in the early 90s, leading to a CMO crash in '94) had found how to securitize mortgages and "insure" the risk.

4. By the late '90s regulators of major banks around the world required greater capital reserves. Banks saw how Wall St. could lend with minimal capital (by selling securitized instruments to investors). With free money, and the newly-created Credit Default Swap (CDS) "insurance," banks could literally lend to everyone. Investors who bought the securitized debt were "insured" against risk. And, borrowers might even repay the loans.

5. In '99, a Republican led Congress (after the stunning LTCM failure) passed legislation to prohibit states from regulating CDSs. Bill Clinton signed it.

6. Relentless deregulation that started during the Reagan administration steadily shifted lending to the purview of non-regulated entities, until by 2006, only about 1/4 of all lending occurred in regulated sectors, down from about 80% twenty years before.

7. Decomposition of mortgage lending (from an S&L performing all services) led to profound "Agency" problems. (Brokers, bankers, investment houses, CDS underwriters, servicers and investors serving their individual needs even though it's destructive to other parties who will ultimately "own" the mortgage.).

8. Societal emphasis on the desirability of "everyone" owning a home. From President Clinton's relaxation of HUD rules in '95 to President Bush's "ownership society" mantra in the 2000s, and his own relaxation of HUD rules.

To help put Brooksley Born's timeframe in perspective, the CDS market (only one form of derivative) expanded from just $180 billion in 1996 (when Brooksley warned Congress of the broader derivatives market) to a whopping $57.9 TRILLION, in 2007.

Well since you are like me and hate the cold - there will be days where you say that you WANT to BBQ but it is just too frickin cold for your body to stand there flipping stuff on the grill. Also, the outside temp drastically cools down the surface of the meat/fish etc. being cooked in cold weather.

A little scotch might help that. :)

As for the ambient temp--good to know. I'll have to give that a test--I've never grilled in anything below 60F before.

I have owned Windows 7 for quite a while now. I think it runs pretty fair especially when compared to Vista. The biggest issue that killed Vista was resource load and drivers. The forgiving nature of Windows 7 when using other drivers will take this OS a lot farther than Vista. I bought a copy of Windows 7 Pro for my lappy and my desktop through the school for $29.99.

I hope this will stop the children like commercials from Mac, I cannot believe Mac trys to keep a fight for competition going with Microsoft.

It definitely affects the outcome. I typically put burgers on the grill, close the top and "bake them" for 5 minutes on each side. Then I put cheese on them, close the lid for a minute and they are done. In cold weather, the minute you open the lid, the cold air whooshes in and the heat dissipates so the second "baking after flip time" takes longer in the dead of winter.

Now for Chicken, I line the grill with foil ( 3 layers to insulate) and then cover the chicken with a layer of foil completely sealed for 45 minutes and never check it at all. The chicken almost steams for 45 minutes but does not dry out.
you can baste/marinate it in whatever basting suits your collective fancies.

The last 15 minutes I remove the foil cover and then it gets nice and crispy on top. That method has been foolproof and took years of "Chicken titration" to get it just right.
That closed lid style of cooking is not as susceptible to the temp variations but your thermometer should tell you what the inside temp is when it is 15 out. When it is 15 out and the wind is really blowing - it does have an influence on the cooking time.

But, Jones still employs his conspiratorial tendencies when choosing clips and how to edit them.

I agree that there is a growing financial elite with incestuous relations to government. This 8-page NY Magazine article about Goldman Sachs describes the problem.

But, that's a far cry from "One World Government" theories. That's not conducive to historic analysis of real events contributing to the recent meltdown.

You're the one who brought up the issue regarding conspiracies. There is no denying that Alex has beat that drum to death, but, again, he does very little talking in this piece and the discussion burden is carried by others in a position to know who are far more (small 'c') conservative and circumspect in their approach than Alex.

Whether or not there is an active global "hot conspiracy" with the intent to suborn and subjugate all of humanity to slavery is open to debate and examination by the means of reason; however, there is no denying that it is possible to end up in that very same condition simply by engaging in a "willful conspiracy" of ignorance and disregard because it suits ones ends...whether it's by policymakers, regulators, participants or the public.

The video that I posted simply has much further information that lends support and credence to the fact they steamrolled Born (and others) when she tried to raise the alarm regarding derivatives. It goes on to show that the same players maintain the same attitude with respect to other issues as well...issues that will be relevant in the future.

I'm sure that we will be hearing from folks in the future who will be exclaiming "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US??!" when, in fact, some one IS trying to tell them...just like Brooksley Born tried to tell them. The problem is...they're just not listening.

Not wanting to further derail your post, I'll leave it at that.

Obama declares Swine Flu National Emergency - Why?

While sounding entirely reasonable, Obama has just given himself extraordinary powers and the ability to suspend the Bill of Rights, apparently without any real need to do so. WHY??

None of this means that federal agents are going to march door to door arresting people at gunpoint if they refuse the vaccine, but they could if they wanted to. Your rights as an American are no longer recognized under this national emergency declaration.

Declaring a national emergency immediately gives federal authorities dangerous new powers that can now be enforced at gunpoint, including:

• The power to force mandatory swine flu vaccinations on the entire population.

• The power to arrest, quarantine or "involuntarily transport" anyone who refuses a swine flu vaccination.

• The power to quarantine an entire city and halt all travel in or out of that city.

• The power to enter any home or office without a search warrant and order the destruction of any belongings or structures deemed to be a threat to public health.

• The effective nullification of the Bill of Rights. Your right to due process, to being safe from government search and seizure, and to remain silent to avoid self-incrimination are all null and void under a Presidential declaration of a national emergency.

According to the CDC, swine flu infections have already peaked, and the pandemic is on its way out.

Even though the H1N1 pandemic appears to have peaked out, U.S. President Barack Obama has now declared a national emergency over swine flu infections. The reasoning behind such a declaration? According to the White House, it's designed to "allow hospitals to better handle the surge in patients" by allowing them to bypass certain federal laws.

all of these measures have a purpose, if you don't agree with them become a expert on health policy then state your case.

and your little chart, it does not say that it has peaked. it just shows how many have been reported, tested postitve, etc. nowhere do i see that it says that it has peaked.

the measures are in response to the number of h1n1 vaccines that were produced. it was fewer than they had planned on having produced. makes perfect sense to me. they are just getting policies in place should the worse occur. think Apocalypse, the only way to survive is to be ready. heaven forbid they wouldn't have anything in place and wait for due process if something were to happen.

I seriously doubt the declaration will result in any mass forced immunizations, but I am cynical enough to believe that Obama will use the swine flu scare(as opposed to a real problem) to help drum up support for his healthcare overhaul. Make the public afraid their health is in jeopardy and then play up how the benevolent, omniscient federal bureaucracy has been there to pull the public's bacon out of the fire.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see this declaration used to force healthcare workers and other public employees(incl armed forces) to have forced vaccinations.

I think people are afraid of Barak Obama, because they don't think person with dark skin can lead the country, yet someone who started a war with -no- evidence is hailed as a great leader.

Sit back down please. Wait your turn in line for flu shots and be glad this isn't 1918, because if it were you may be the house with the white flag on the door.

Re: The Warning (Derivative risk ignored in '96).

I just watched it and must say it is pretty frightening. When you consider it's literally the same people in charge of fixing this mess that were so instrumental in allowing/creating it. Can we really expect real reform with that in mind? I personally don't think so.

As far as I can tell the same exact thing is happening all over again, ramping up the derivatives betting, taking on huge amounts of risk. It's complete insanity when you figure that we're not even past the current crisis by a long shot, yet we're already putting in place the elements for the next one!?!? Current crisis being the commercial mortgages and the huge amount of Alt-A loans to reset in the next few years. Let's not even forget the huge shadow inventory of foreclosures the banks are carrying right now.

Yet wall st is still immune to any regulations that would help prevent financial crisis down the road. Hell even the UK plans to ban annual bonuses for bankers. Yet here the US is with no meaningful legislation having anything to do with wall st. I wonder if all the greedy bankers will leave countries (quite a few) that have pay limits to come to the US. Just think of how big a crash we could have if they were all confined to one country!

It appears the biggest problem here is the one I like to constantly bring up: corporate money influence on our government. Just look at every huge problem we currently have and you can trace it back to that. Like the video basically said the reason no regulations have been put in place: the financial lobby is the biggest one on the hill.

I like how crazy Greenspan shows the libertarian philosophy to be. Fraud? Oh the markets will take care of that. LOL. More like the rest of the market will find out and jump right into themselves. I guess it's really no wonder we've had so much corporate fraud in the recent past. In the past ten years, we've had the three largest bankruptcies ever - sign me up for some more of this free market!

If you watch this hour-long PBS "American Experience" overview of the 1929 Crash you'll see how ugly mobs formed outside Wall St. exchanges and brokerages. (You must sit through two 30-second intros before the piece starts.).

It's amazing how public/social norms have changed in 80 years. How these guys have been much more brazen today, and the public just accepts it. Ugly mobs show up at political townhalls over making already-socialized healthcare more equitable for all society. But, outrageously rich people rape our economy (and give themselves bonuses for it!), and it's near silence.

said by truth :

I like how crazy Greenspan shows the libertarian philosophy to be. Fraud? Oh the markets will take care of that. LOL.
In the week before LTCM imploded, Greenspan told Congress, "Market pricing and counterparty surveillance can be expected to do most of the job of sustaining safety and soundness." And, in 2003, he told an investment conference:

quote:
Critics of derivatives often raise the specter of the failure of one dealer imposing debilitating loses on its counterparties, including other dealers, yielding a chain of defaults. However, derivative markets participants seem keenly aware of the counterparty credit risks associated with derivatives and take various measures to mitigate those risks.

This is the same Greenspan who told Congress that the Fed had to intervene in the LTCM crisis, because:

quote:
Had the failure of LTCM triggered seizing up of markets, substantial damage could have been inflicted on many market participants, including some not directly involved with the firm, and could have potentially impaired the economies of many nations, including our own.

In other words, counterparty surveillance works fine, so long as you're willing to accept the occasional crash of "the economies of the nations." But given the enormous rewards that accrue to top-of-the-food-chain players like LTCM partners, true market-believers may find that a cheap enough price.

Concerning derivatives, Greenspan added to his string of memorial bubble endorsements when he announced "a new paradigm of active credit management"

At least he had the personal character to admit before Congress that his views were proven wrong. That's better than someone like Larry Summers quietly taking an advisory post with President Obama, and supporting derivative regulation. Just change positions and act like nothing happened.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see this declaration used to force healthcare workers and other public employees(incl armed forces) to have forced vaccinations.
Up until the other day, the NYS DOH was mandating that all healthcare workers MUST receive both seasonal, and H1N1 flu shots. They rescinded because the state was sued---and also because there won't be nearly enough shots for something that like this year.

CNN Link:

Daines had originally said that public health workers must be vaccinated for the seasonal flu and the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, by November 30 or risk discipline.

The Public Employees Federation, New York's second-largest state employees union, sued over the requirement and was awaiting a state Supreme Court hearing scheduled for October 30.

The vaccine shortage has defused the conflict.

It's unclear what will happen with the lawsuits. Thursday's action was a suspension of the order, and the Health Department plans to pursue making the order permanent in 2010, as long as there's enough vaccine for that flu season, said Diane Mathis, an agency spokeswoman.

I haven't found any other evidence that a 2010 law will exist.

My god. You mean a president of the US might actually lobby and try to get things enacted that he believes are good for the country? Insidious.

Since you're a very political guy, why didn't your political party put a stop to this stuff when they controlled the executive and legislative branches? We can't allow presidents to do outrageous things like this. The next thing you know we'll have loyalty oaths at political rallies, and terror alerts to hornswoggle the country into giving the federal government more power.

Other presidents have declared national emergencies. I don't recall you objecting then to the powers it gives a president, but perhaps I missed that.

quote:
Federal law provides a variety of powers for the President to use in response to crisis, exigency, or emergency circumstances threatening the nation. Moreover, they are not limited to military or war situations. Some of these authorities, deriving from the Constitution or statutory law, are continuously available to the President with little or no qualification. Others—statutory delegations from Congress—exist on a standby basis and remain dormant until the President formally declares a national
emergency. These delegations or grants of power authorize the President to meet the problems of governing effectively in times of crisis. Under the powers delegated by such statutes, the President may seize property, organize and control the means of production, seize commodities, assign military forces abroad, institute martial law, seize and control all transportation and communication, regulate the operation of private enterprise, restrict travel, and, in a variety of ways, control the lives of United States citizens. Furthermore, Congress may modify, rescind, or render dormant such delegated emergency authority.

It goes on to show that the same players maintain the same attitude with respect to other issues as well...issues that will be relevant in the future.
It's that open-ended "maybe this too" which concerns me about tying conspiracy theories to the relatively straightforward topic of our present financial crisis. There are very real, concrete answers to how we got here. From greed, to corporate influence of politics, and well-intended social engineering.

I think those things can be discussed fairly and rationally. Adding topics like "NAFTA is a plot by the same 'players'" diminishes the legitimacy of this topic. Or, "the Federal Reserve was a plot by the Jewish bankers."

Personally, I'm disturbed by how the vast majority of comedians come from Canada. Obviously, someone is in control of the comedic industry. A Canadian mafia? Why isn't anyone talking about this? (wink)

said by John Galt :

I'm sure that we will be hearing from folks in the future who will be exclaiming "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US??!" when, in fact, some one IS trying to tell them...just like Brooksley Born tried to tell them. The problem is...they're just not listening.
They (if you mean political power brokers) were listening. They simply disagreed ideologically with the warnings. "Free markets work if left to their own devices." (Economic power brokers were just greedy to make more fees from exotic derivatives. Less government equals more money in their pockets.).

If you mean the public. I agree. I believe the public is politically palsied. Jaded by the canned, polarized rhetoric. And, disinterested in meaningful discussion of social issues. (I.e., convenient labels like "socialist" make complex problems go away, so the vast disinterested can resume their video games, or go on the next cruise ship.).

In that sense, I think you're right that someday things might get bad enough that angry Americans would ask "how did this happen?" My only concern is that there will be a never-ending supply of kooks with their own special-interest topic (NAFTA, executive orders, Zionists, central banking, gold standard, etc.). I don't think the problem is as complex as the kooks make it out to be.

5 new WGA False Postives. Thanks Microsoft!

I visited a customer today, that I hadn't seen for some time.

I was (not completely) surprised to see 5 Dell systems all warning the customers that they were likely victims of piracy.

These were 5 Dell P4s that were all purchased at the same time. They had the XP Pro Cert of Authenticity complete with WinXP Pro Key stuck on the side of the computer (by Dell). The OS keys match the ones on the cases.

I arranged the purchase of these things from Dell, 5 or so years ago. I installed them onto the network and have seen them through a number of successful WGA validations.

It looks like the WGA KB update MS pushed through a few months ago, is the culprit. They said the systems have been crippled for a few months.

It had me thinking of those folks who endlessly defend WGA as a harmless process because they weren't inconvenienced by it. That the collateral damage (my billable hours) caused by Microsoft defending it's interests is all very appropriate and acceptable to them.

I'm sure they're quite ready to walk the talk and pay what it costs to correct MS licensing screw-ups. If not, they really should keep their pro-MS diatribes internalized.

I shill for MS when it's appropriate to do so. WGA is anything but appropriate.

The same could have been said about the first wave of the 1918 Spanish flu.

Characteristics of the modern Swine flu have health officials worried that it could mutate unlike seasonal flu. Such as its virulence during the summer months. And, how it affects age groups who are typically much less affected by seasonal flu.

Efforts to reduce its spread are essentially efforts to reduce its opportunity to mutate.

This is a case of "darned if you do, darned if you don't." If President Obama takes the simplistic view that "it hasn't killed enough people yet to take seriously," and it mutates like the 1918 flu, he'll be blamed for being an ineffective President.

If he takes steps to reduce the chance of mutation, he'll be blamed for making a mountain out of a molehill. (Especially if his efforts contribute to the goal.).

The only people who have it easy are those with the luxury of betting on every horse in the race.

That was an interesting video, thanks. Right after the recent crash there were a few angry mobs outside of NYSE. But no bankers jumping out of windows - well maybe but they had golden parachutes to ease the fall.

It is pretty amazing just how much the average American fights against their own interests. "Give ME affordable health care? I don't think so commie!" I mean just look at how much most people are against unions. The very people who would benefit the most from one. As if wanting a higher wage or a more secure job makes you lazy bum. If the employer can't treat it's employees like shit its unamerican or something. I know plenty of people who do blue collar work that are against union members for making too much. It just blows my mind - wouldn't you like to make a decent wage as well?

To the anti-union people: Yes I know there are some overly powerful unions that are corrupt as hell. Like the prison guard's union in California.

Dare I say a lot of this might stem from the reagan revolution... Since then government has been labeled as bad and must be stopped at all costs. Social programs only help the mythical 'welfare queens'. Deregulation is good and allows business to flourish without government stifling them. Taxes are the enemy and must be never be raised on anyone regardless of how much they make. Everything government = communism. Reaganomics. Greed is good. The birth of "fuck you, got mine"

IMO, Conservatives are opposed to the hullabaloo over Swine flu because it clearly delineates the difference between making (already-socialized) health care available to the highest bidder instead of the person with the greatest need.

Today, H1N1 vaccinations were available to the public in Arizona. But, exclusively limited to "high risk" groups.

This has to make Conservatives nutty.

Why should children get priority to a flu shot when a wealthy person is willing to pay the equivalent to 200x profit to the provider? Just because "the government says so?"

"It's a 'free market,' darn it! It's everyone else who wants to impose a system of eugenics and cost/benefit calculus. Death panels I tell you. DEATH PANELS! If I can't buy my healthcare ahead of everyone else, you've used government to kill me!"

The social (public welfare) imperatives behind H1N1 must irritate Conservatives.

That runs $70/mo before taxes & fees that bring it up to $78/mo
GSM - You're right. I didn't read that carefully enough.
My phone is also under contract.

It runs around $80/mo, with unlimited data and no cap.

Because they see that if the White House can silence FoxNews, then CBS or NBC or ABC could very well be next. If a bully like Obama's WhiteHouse can silence 1 critic, then they can silence all critics.
But we usually don't see wisdom outweighing ideology, in matters of politics.

Another possibility is the fear of outing MSNBC. If the press were forced to cover the Flaming, Leftist Bias of MSNBC, it might bring attention to their own biased tendencies.

If the controversy is limited to Fox, then it's easier to keep up a facade that the only bias is Right Leaning One. It doesn't hurt that other News Media look like they've taken the high ground on the issue.

Re: need help understanding what unlimited

I want a unlocked phone so I can insert custom plans
into the SIM card slot, I'm learning that there will be
companies offering private-label custom features,and-service plans on a prepaid month-to-month basis, I do not want to be locked in to any one plan because prices are falling and want to take advantage of the best deals.

I want to make a conference calls but most unlimited plans
require only you and another party, and do not allow conference calls over so many minutes without being terminated.

it seems that there is never a true unlimited plan the way
the general public assumes is unlimited. then the following month you get a nice surprise for either hundreds of dollars if not thousands of dollars if the consumer can't navigate
or understand the terms and conditions.

they get screwed

Then you can forget any 3rd party resellers that run on the Verizon or Sprint networks. Look for pre-pay plans and resellers that use the AT&T or T-Mobile networks.

It is at this point that ANY moderately intelligent person could go look at the REALITY of what information we (including Bill Clinton) and the rest of the world (Including.... well pretty much every other country) believed at the time; punctuate that with the FACT that Saddam himself had told people he had WMD's.

But that's ok, we can all pretend. Just like we've all pretended that the now classified satellite imagery showing a presumably Russian military convoy conducting operations between Iraq and Syria on the eve of invasion don't exist.

As a white person, even I laugh a bit at these types of comments.....

Through emails, conservative friends send me jokes about Obama all the time dealing with his race....not sure how many times I got the Obama is black and is moving into the "White" House or maybe some jokes about Obama pimping out his car or helicopter.....or we have radio people mocking his race (then trying to state that because another black man started it, it was ok...as if anyone cared where it began)....or countless other examples of race being brought up

Yet....they actually have the nerve to act like they are innocent in the race card being brought up

"Do as I say, not as I do" philosophy.

No, for the past few weeks you've been slamming conservatives, or republicans. I'm just so tired of seeing intelligent people like you falling for this tired game of Democrat vs. Republican, Liberal versus Conservative...
We all are shades of grey. I agree with many, many democratic ideas and many republican ideas. What I see now is a concerted effort in gov't, both sides to screw us over. It's sad, and I'm not the only one that see it. Most all of my circle of friends now see it and there a many that have seen it for years. I even have friends who have checked out of the US and now live in other countries where there are quite happy and do NOT miss it here. I love the USA. I hope we can hang in there despite what our "leadership" is doing to our future.

We all are shades of grey.
On the one hand I agree with you that issues are shades of gray, and don't fit into convenient, polarized political positions. I believe my positions have furthered that belief (i.e., "socialism" is a matter of degrees, not an absolute label which can be used to dismiss undesirable ideas or policies.).

On the other hand, the choice between Democrat and Republican is very real. It's not something you can easily opt out of (unless you want to move to another country, as your friends have.). For good or bad, that's the reality.

I can't apologize for seeing ample opportunity to criticize Republican/Conservative positions and ideology. Considering how they utilize a well-orchestrated media campaign (Faux News and hate radio) to push flawed beliefs (and criticize Dems/Liberals), it's not like they don't ask for the same treatment.

As I said before, I've criticized Dems/Liberals in the past. I'm not a party "dittohead." I form my own opinions, often at odds with Dems/Liberals.

If you want to unilaterally withdraw from politics, that's fine with me. But, don't expect others to do the same just because you believe the two-party system is pointless.

If we had just quarantined and executed everyone who was exposed to swine flu when the problem was small, we wouldn't be in this mess. Stop crying about heavy handedness, it gets the freaking job done.

A whole lot of bull shit. Few months ago, Mr. Obama assured this nation that he had this pandemic under control by preparing for the vaccines and giving billions of Dollars to the drug companies for the vaccines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not believe how anyone could accept this incompetancy of all people involved. It is about time to respond to our incompetent officials who were responsible for lack of vaccines. These are the same people who campaigned against the previous administration for the disaster DURING AND AFTER New Orleans flood. We as one nation and taxpayers should have the Balls to question these people who do not care about our lives, lives of our children and pregnant wives. It is time to call for impeachment of all people involved. Mr. Obama assured us that he had it under control?

This is a lot of crap........ How about all people who want to get the flu shot but they can not because the vaccines that we paid billions of dollars for are not available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this another one of Joe Liberman's craps for making money from the insurance and drug companies?

Yes it is a fraud........... It is to cover up their BS for not having the vaccines that they promised to this nation. This is a cover up to hide their lack of competency!!!
